ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Raja the elephant, arguably the most popular resident of the St. Louis Zoo, reaches a milestone birthday.
Raja was celebrating his 21st birthday in style Friday with a party at the zoo. Zookeepers and volunteers made presents filled with some of Raja’s favorite things—cereal, melons, bananas and popcorn among them. Other elephants from his herd were also to be on hand.
Raja was the first Asian elephant born at the zoo. He has sired four females in recent years.
