A suspect is in custody and charged with first degree murder for the shooting death of Sybil Brandon.
Brandon, a St. Louis resident, was found dead in the trunk of her car in Illinois almost a month after she was reported missing. Autopsy results show that Brandon suffered a gunshot wound to her head.
Reports say that 39-year-old Glynn Smith was partying with Brandon inside a flat located in the 4500 block of Margaretta in St. Louis on November 25. At some point during the night, Smith shot Brandon in the head.
After being shot, Brandon was placed in the trunk of her own car before the 39-year-old suspect abandoned the vehicle in Madison County Illinois.
St. Louis Homicide took charge of the case, located the residence where the crime took place and determined a suspect. Homicide detectives took Smith into custody on December 24.
Brandon was reported missing on November 29, four days after she was last seen.
