Today – December 23 – marks Festivus, the holiday popularized by a 1997 episode of Seinfeld that involves “an airing of grievances” on the things that happened in the past year.

The day kicks off with a “Festivus Dinner” and airing of the grievance is followed by “feats of strength.” An aluminum Festivus pole is installed instead of a Christmas tree.

The annual “holiday” started because George Costanza’s father, Frank, became annoyed at the commercialization of the holidays.
