ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Rams have sold out their home opener against the Green Bay Packers, perhaps aided by a pre-game ceremony retiring Hall of Fame defensive end Deacon Jones' jersey No. 75.
Jones coined the term "sack the quarterback" and was widely considered one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history. He holds the franchise record of 159 1/2 sacks with the Los Angeles Rams from 1961-71 and totaled 173 1/2 sacks for his career.
The ceremony will begin at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, 20 minutes before the opening kickoff. The Rams are 2-0, the Packers 1-1.
