On Monday, September 21st, Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn reported that an autopsy was conducted to aid in the death investigation of an Alhambra, Illinois man.
Robert Joseph Geschwend was found underneath an overturned lawn mower on Suhre Road in Alhambra. A passer-by spotted Geschwend and called police.
Geschwend was not mowing at the time and it is believed he was using the mower to travel to a nearby friends' residence.
Today's autopsy revealed no indication of asphyxiation or lethal trauma from the incident. The autopsy did reveal extensive cardiovascular disease.
Tentatively, it is believed Geschwend died from natural causes which caused the mower to leave the roadway and overturn. Routine toxicology and microscopic studies will be undertaken prior to a determining the precise cause of death.
