In the wake of a higher-than-average number of vehicle burglaries last month, Maryville Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles when they are away from them for any length of time.
The department reported a total of five vehicle burglaries in August, plus three which have occurred so far this month.
In each of the August cases, the vehicles were unlocked, Maryville Police Chief Rich Schardan said.
Those numbers may not seem like much compared to larger communities, but for Maryville the numbers are significant.
