ALTON - Two suspects in a cluster of five vehicle break-ins one night last week in Alton continue eluding authorities.
Police say they think the same duo was responsible for all of the burglaries because each appeared to have occurred between 7 and 10 p.m. Friday; they all happened near Homer Adams Parkway; all but one of the stolen items was electronics visible from outside the car or truck; and the man who forced his way into the vehicles jimmied all of the driver's side door handle locks, possibly with a screwdriver.
"A witness' account had good descriptions," said Lt. Scott Golike, chief of detectives at the Alton Police Department. The witness said the suspected burglars were two black men in their 20s, riding in a silver or gray-colored 2000-'02 four-door Chevrolet Impala sedan with tinted windows.
