VENICE, Ill. (KMOV) -- The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis on Saturday said it was searching for a man wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting death in Venice.
Madison County Sheriff's Department Capt. Brad Wells, commander of the squad, said Chauncie Dukes, 24, of Granite City was shot numerous times behind a home in the 1000 block of Market Street.
Wells said Diron L. Pinnix was "present" when Dukes was killed around 2:10 a.m. Saturday.
It was unclear if Pinnix, 24, who has listed addresses in Venice, Alton, and St. Louis, was injured during the shooting, but Wells said he abandoned a vehicle at the crime scene.
Pinnix was described by police as standing 5 feet 6 inches tall with a "stocky build."
Wells said approximately 25 investigators were currently working the investigation.
