Police find 2-year-old daughter of woman found dead in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — St. Louis police say they have found the 2-year-old daughter of a woman found dead in weeds near a road in north St. Louis on Tuesday.

According to police, the body of 27-year-old Tatiana McNeil was found Tuesday afternoon in the 9200 bloclRiverview Drive.

Railroad workers discovered the body, and investigators have determined her death was a homicide. The cause of death has not been determined, and police say there are no suspects.

Police said they located a 7-year-old child of the victim, but according to family members, McNeil also had two-year-old named Tiana. Authorities had not been able to locate this missing child, and asked he public for help in a press conference. 

"We're not going to leave anything unturned or untried," said St. Louis Police Captain Michael Sack. "We are just hoping the child is with an acquaintance of the victim."

Captain Sack said the department began receiving calls and tips immidiately following the press conference. 

As it turned out, the child was with a friend of McNeil's. According to police, the friend was unaware that anything had happened to McNeil, and often watched her daughter for weeks at a time. The friend also said it was not unusual to not here from McNeil while she was taking care of Tiana.

Officers were able to locate the daughter by 6:30 p.m., and called the family to positively identify her. 

According to police, Tiana is in good health.

Investigators continue to search for answers in McNeil's death. Police don't know if she had a car, and she did not have a permanent address; often staying with different friends for periods of time.

The Medical Examiner has reported she died of trauma, though an exact cause of death has not been released.
