(FootballStL) -- The St. Louis Rams and Sam Bradford can breathe a little easier after the Jacksonville Jaguars tapped Gus Bradley as their next head coach.

Brian Schottenheimer, the offensive coordinator of the Rams, had interviewed for the open vacancy in Jacksonville earlier this week.  It was the only team interested to interview Schottenheimer for its head coaching position.

What does it mean for the Rams?  It’s all about the continuity.  It is something Bradford has never had in his NFL career -- the same coordinator for two seasons.

The offense wasn’t a high-octane replica of the ‘Greatest Show on Turf’ days, but it will at least allow the team to build on the success it had last year.  It will also give the Rams an idea of what already works and what doesn’t.

Bradford rebounded from a poor 2011 season when he was limited by an ankle injury and showed flashes of his rookie season success.  He completed nearly 60 percent of his passes and finished with a career-best 21 touchdowns thrown and 82.6 quarterback rating.

The improvement didn’t end with the Rams reaching the playoffs, but it led to a season where the team was in the hunt until December.  The team will now be able to build off of the success for next season and could become major players in the tough NFC West next season.
