Copper thieves charged following attempted burglary in Hazelwood

(KMOV) – Police in Hazelwood have charged three men with burglary after they attempted to steal copper pipe from an apartment building in Hazelwood.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at around 9:20 a.m., Officers spotted men coming out of a Hazelwood apartment building while attempting to steal copper pipe.

Raynell Jones, 26, Joseph M. Kirkwood, 28, and David Reynolds, 29, were charged on Thursday, July 18 with second-degree burglary.

Hazelwood Police said Jones and two others attempted to steal copper pipe from a Hazelwood apartment building located in the 500 block of Village Square Drive as it was being rehabbed.

Police said Jones was found inside the building and Reynolds and Kirkwood were caught coming out.

All three men are being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center.

Bail was set at $15,000 for Reynolds and Kirkwood.  Bail for Jones was set at $20,000.
