(KMOV.com) -- A major road through University City will be shut down next week as construction begins near city hall.
Parts of Delmar Road near the Delmar Loop will be shut down in order for a round-about to be constructed and city officials said the closures may be hassle for drivers.
“They’re not going to be happy drivers,” said Richard Wilson, University City Director of Works and Parks, “The detour is a little bit long, but not that long. Hopefully, they’ll follow the detour signs and get through it.”
The closures will happen next Tuesday through Thursday on Delmar at Trinity in both directions and drivers will take a detour on side streets to get back onto Delmar.
Wilson said the closures will help the speed construction time up for the round-about.
City officials said cutting back the project schedule will save the city about $5,000.
