(KMOV) – A West County business promised prizes to the winners of a local modeling contest but more than a year later, the company has yet to deliver.

Four winners were chosen in May 2012 in a contest run by Contemporary Vision Center and it’s online company Ochiwear.

The winners were promised a feature in a national marketing campaign among other things.

The founder of Ochiwear told News 4’s Chris Stanford the rules of the contest are clear, no prizes until the first photo shoot.

The photo shoot was supposed to happen a year ago. The contest was to see who could rack up the most “likes” on Facebook.

Model and college student, Jade Owens won the grand prize including $1000.

“I worked my butt off to win this contest so that’s really, really what bothers me the most,” Owens said.

She was hoping the money would help her pay for school but the photo shoot kept being pushed back.

Owens said she hasn’t heard from the contest organizers in months.

“Oh it’s very frustrating, especially when they said the photo shoot was going to be in July then they moved it to August of last year, 2012 and I’m like okay; what’s going on?” Owens added.

News 4 went to Contemporary Vision Center on Manchester but was only able to talk to Ochiwear’s founder Andy Hahn over the phone.

By delaying the photo shoot and prizes, Hahn technically isn’t breaking the contest rules. He says a changing product line is the reason they’re not ready for a photo shoot.
