Elderly woman with Alzheimers missing, could be in St. Louis

WARSAW, Mo.—Police say a 73-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s has not been seen since she left a lake property in eastern Missouri.

Searchers are looking for Hellen E. Cook, who was last seen about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at her lake property she and her husband owned southwest of Warsaw close to Truman Lake.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said Cook walked away while her husband was mowing the lawn. She is 5 feet tall and 97 pounds with short brown or auburn hair. She was wearing blue jean shorts, a white T-shirt and tennis shoes and was carrying boots and a walking stick.

Cook’s husband and neighbors contacted Benton County authorities after searching for several hours. Her husband believes she might be trying to return to their home in Buckner.

He also believes she may have returned to other cities they’ve lived including St. Louis, Blue Springs, Bragidocio and Cape Girardeau.
