Driver injured during crash in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police say a driver was injured Thursday morning after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a tree in north St. Louis.

Authorities said the accident happened between 1:30 and 2 a.m. on St. Charles Rock Road near Pennsylvania Avenue in the Greendale neighborhood.

The driver of a white van apparently lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.  The driver was seen sitting on the side of the roadway holding his arm.  An ambulance arrived to treat the driver, but the extent of his injuries is unknown.

Police did not say if anyone else was in the vehicle.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused the driver to crash.
