ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Almost 200 people lived in the 3949 Lindell Apartments that went up in flames Tuesday night. Miraculously, no one was even seriously hurt.

Many of the residents are students at St. Louis University. The Red Cross is helping them, offering food, clothing and replacement medicines.

News 4 spoke with a woman who doesn’t know if she has anything left.

“The apartment management- that’s all I’ve been able to get a hold of and all they’ve said is building is a total loss,” said resident Margaret Liu. “Thats pretty much it.”

We also found help coming from nearby apartment complexes. Many of them are offering housing to the fire victims.

“We can offer them a place to go that is fully furnished, offers all amenities, something like a hotel but putting them in an apartment until they find permanent housing,” said Brad Laspe of VIP Corporate Housing.
