Freese breaks homerless streak

MILWAUKEE (BaseballStL) – David Freese did something in Wednesday’s game that he hasn’t done in over a month – hit a home run.

Since June 14, Freese is 36-for-101 (.356) but had only one home run until a second inning jack off Tyler Thornburg to deep left center field in the series-finale against the Brewers.

The solo home run was only RBI No. 12 for the All-Star third baseman in the stretch.  He has also hit safely in 22 of his last 28 games played.

Freese has raised his batting average from .276 to .299.
