MILWAUKEE (BaseballStL) – Trevor Rosenthal made history in his first appearance for the Cardinals on Wednesday.
After entering the game in the eighth inning, Rosenthal officially became the 2000th player to play in a game for the Cardinals franchise. The Cardinals are the only major league team to have 2000 different players play, according to research done by Baseball Reference.
Rosenthal pitched a scoreless inning in his major league debut. He allowed one hit, two walks and struck out two batters in the eighth inning of a 4-2 game.
Rosenthal was promoted to the Cardinals from Double-A Springfield on Monday. He was drafted in the 21st round of the 2009 draft by St. Louis.
