MILWAUKEE (BaseballStL) – Trevor Rosenthal made history in his first appearance for the Cardinals on Wednesday.

After entering the game in the eighth inning, Rosenthal officially became the 2000th player to play in a game for the Cardinals franchise.  The Cardinals are the only major league team to have 2000 different players play, according to research done by Baseball Reference.

Rosenthal pitched a scoreless inning in his major league debut.  He allowed one hit, two walks and struck out two batters in the eighth inning of a 4-2 game.

Rosenthal was promoted to the Cardinals from Double-A Springfield on Monday.  He was drafted in the 21st round of the 2009 draft by St. Louis.
