HIGHLAND, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire that heavily damaged a home in Highland, Illinois early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters got the call for fire around 5:30 a.m. for the home in the 1200 block of Main Street, just about two blocks from the fire station.

A person walking along the street noticed the smoke and hurried to the home to alert the residents.  The family in the home managed to make it out safely. No one was injured.

Flames shot through the roof in the back section of the home causing heavy damage to the structure of the home.  No word on what might have sparked the fire, but officials said they do not believe it was suspicious.
