EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- A southwestern Illinois man is facing a homicide charge in connection with the overdose death last summer of a Missouri man found outside the defendant’s home.

Prosecutors in Madison County on Monday charged 40-year-old Robert Kirchner of Granite City with drug-induced homicide and three other drug-related felonies. He’s also accused with three other people of concealing the death.

Tony Sellers died last June. Authorities say toxicology tests showed the man from Piedmont, Mo., died of a heroin overdose.

Prosecutors allege that Kirchner bought the heroin in St. Louis and delivered it to Sellers, then helped moved Sellers’ body to the backyard of Kirchner’s home.

Kirchner does not have a listed home telephone number. Online court records don’t show whether he has an attorney.
