(BaseballStl) - The Cardinals announced they placed Chris Carpenter on the 60-day disabled list on Friday.
In February, the Cardinals announced Carpenter would miss the entire 2013 season due to continued irritation in his cervical spine and right shoulder.
"We felt it was best to make an official announcement on Carp's roster status today from both the administrative standpoint and from a roster stand point," said Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak.
This is not the first time Carpenter has missed significant time due to an injury. The ace missed most of 2007, 2008, and 2012, while missing all of 2003.
