JUPITER, Fla. – Shelby Miller completed a 25-pitch bullpen session Friday morning and reported no problems afterwards.

Miller, who is competing with Trevor Rosenthal and Joe Kelly for the No. 5 starters spot in the Cardinals rotation, was shut down for a few days due to tightness and soreness in his right shoulder.

“No soreness or anything at all,” Miller said. “It was the best my shoulder has felt all spring. I’m good to go.

“I just felt like maybe there was a little inflammation in there or something and I got all that taken care of so hopefully it’s all gone and I wont have to worry about it.”

Miller posted a 1.32 ERA in six games with the Cardinals after making his Major League debut in September. He appeared in two games in the NLCS against the San Francisco Giants but allowed two earned runs in 3 1/3 innings.

“None of the symptoms I was having were bothering me as of yesterday so I knew it wasn’t going to be there and my arm was feeling better. I knew I was going to throw a good pen but the biggest thing is how it feels in the day to come. … I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.”

Miller is scheduled to face hitters Monday on the back fields at Roger Dean Stadium and could appear in a game as early as next weekend. He would have started the second spring game on Sunday had he not had the setback.
