(HockeyStL) -- Without a win in the month of February, the Sharks came to St. Louis desperate for their first in its last eight games.

A bloop goal and a punchless Blues squad was the perfect order for the struggling Sharks.

After both teams failed to convert on two power play attempts in the first period, the Blues would jump ahead on a tip-in goal from Patrik Berglund. The puck was fed beautifully to the front of the net by Vladimir Sobotka and put past Antti Niemi for Berglund’s team-leading ninth of the season.

Blues goalie Jake Allen was peppered early by the Sharks and stopped all nine shots, which were taken in the first ten minutes of the game, before the Bluess go-ahead goal with a little more than seven minutes left in the period.

“First ten minutes he made some great saves,” Barret Jackman said. “He made a lot of saves from point blank. He stepped up big tonight again and just like he has the last four games.”

Allen has rejuvenated a Blues team that was swept during a four-game homestand earlier this month. The home struggles continued for the Blues after the team failed to register another goal in the game.

The Sharks would get even early in the second period after Joe Thornton put away a rebound off an initial save to knot it up.

The third period brought a lot of heat in the Blues end before Tim Kennedy eventually fluttered a shot barely past Allen. The goal would be the deciding factor in the Sharks 2-1 victory.
