(HockeyStL) -- Jake Allen stopped 30 saves against the Flames en route to his second straight victory Friday.

The 5-2 win may be marked by the four-goal first period, but it was a brilliant save by Allen to deny TJ Brodie of a potential game-changing goal that will have fans attention. Allen was caught out of position when the puck came from the sideboards to an open Brodie.

The 22-year-old goalie managed to keep the Blues in it after facing 24 shots in the final two periods in the 5-2 victory.

Former Blues defenseman Dennis Wideman spoiled a possible shutout with high slap shot over the shoulder of Allen late in the second period. Curtis Glencross added another goal to bring the Flames within two of the lead in the third period.

Allen’s recent play has made it a difficult decision for the goaltending situation. Jaroslav Halak is expected to return soon.
