PALM COAST (AP) – For the second time this month Publix customers had to scramble to avoid being hit by something crashing into the store.

In Palm Coast, Florida, at least eight customers were injured when a vehicle smashed through the store’s entrance. Flagler County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Debra Johnson says 76-year-old Thelma Wagenhoffer drove her car through the entrance of a Publix store Saturday afternoon.

Wagenhoffer was pulling up to a stop sign in front of the store when she reportedly hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes.

Two people inside the store were seriously injured and another eight suffered minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol

Wagenhoffer was not injured and may face charges in the accident.

On April 2, five people were hurt when a small plane crashed into a Publix in DeLand , about 40 miles north of Orlando.

Initial reports showed the plane, a Seawind 3000 experimental aircraft, had mechanical problems. The plane encountered problems shortly after taking off from the DeLand Municipal Airport, less than two miles from the shopping center.

Both people on the plane were seriously injured along with one person in the store. Two others in the store suffered minor injuries.
