MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Missouri (KMOV) – A man is in custody after a person was killed and three others injured in a rollover wreck on Highway 364 Tuesday afternoon.
John P. Recklein, 22, was charged with voluntary manslaughter, second-degree felony assault and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
MoDOT officials said the wreck happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 364 near the Maryland Heights Expressway.
Police said the Recklein, who was driving a minivan, hit the rear of another vehicle and lost control. The flipped several times, ejecting two occupants.
One passenger, Jarred T. Nevenner, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. Natasha G. Galenski, 17, was taken to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.
A third passenger, Nicholas A. Recklein, 20, suffered minor injuries.
John Recklein was treated at Mercy Hospital and then turned over to police custody.
Missouri Highway Patrol tells News 4 that witnesses reported seeing the minivan weaving in-and-out of traffic when it struck the back of the other car. No one in the other car was injured.
Highway 364 was closed for a short time while crews cleared the scene.
