NEW HAVEN, Missouri (KMOV) -- The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help finding a man who allegedly tried kidnapping a boy in New Haven on Monday.
Deputies said a 14-year-old boy told deputies he was given a ride by a friend from Gray Summit to New Haven to visit a relative, but no one was there.
The boy got on his bike and was riding back home to Gray Summit when a man in a maroon truck pulled over and asked if he wanted a ride.
The boy told deputies he agreed and placed his bike in the back of the truck, but changed his mind after he began to feel uneasy.
Deputies said the boy started to exit the truck, but the suspect grabbed him by the arm and tried pulling him back in.
The boy then grabbed his bike and rode away. Deputies said the boy went to a home in the 7000 block of Highway 100 for help. Residents there called deputies around 11:15 p.m. to report the incident.
The suspect was described as a tall white male with a large stature and a deep voice. He was wearing a light-colored shirt.
The boy said the truck was a maroon 1997 to 2000 Ford F-150 or F-250 with a gas engine. He said the truck had a standard bed and the dome light was out.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 636-583-2560. Callers will remain anonymous if requested.
