ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – All lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 are open near Taylor after a MoDOT contractor was injured while picking up trash on Monday.

Authorities said a man was picking up trash along I-70 when his RTV flipped over onto the highway.

It was not immediately clear whether the man was inside the RTV when it was hit.

The victim was injured after the RTV fell onto him. He was transported to the hospital.

News 4 confirmed the worker worked for Millgoal Enterprises, a Kansas City-based landscaping company.  Owner C.J. Fulk told News 4 by phone that the worker is in stable condition.

Traffic was backed up as crews on the scene tried to move the RTV from the middle of the highway.

Officials said the worker was part of a crew preparing the I-70 corridor for mowing.

We’ll have additional information as more details become available.
