Award-winning Florissant police K-9 passes away

FLORISSANT, Missouri (KMOV) -- An award-winning K-9 within the Florissant Police Department has passed away, the department announced Monday.

Police said Bach died early in the morning on April 14.

Bach was born on May 26, 2001 and was purchased by the Florissant Police Department in September, 2004.

During his almost eight years of service to the Florissant Police Department, Bach received two Certificates of Merit. He got one in 2005 for catching a suspect wanted for assaulting a police officer and one in 2006 for apprehending a suspect wanted for parole violation.

Bach lived with Officer Patrick O'Fallon and his wife and son, Pam and Patrick. O'Fallon said he was prepping to transition Bach to retired life this summer.

“I have not only lost a partner, but a family member," O'Fallon said.
