ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV-TV) -- Metro says it will raise fares for the bus and MetroLink trains starting in July.  But it doesn't know yet which tickets will be increased or how much.

There are currently several different tickets and passes at various prices including one-way tickets, day, weekly, monthly and student passes.  Metro has boiled it down to three different options.  The first option raises prices on weekly, monthly and University Semester passes, the third option is an across-the-board hike on all tickets and the middle option is a combination of the two.

Metro will hold four public meetings this week to gather input from riders and hear which option they prefer.  It released the following schedule:
Public Meeting Schedule

Metro says it is increasing the fare because operating costs are going up.  Each option will raise the same amount of money, about $1.8 million.
The fare increase will go into effect in July.  The decision on which option Metro will choose is expected to be made on May 18th.
