Live updates: Blues vs. Sharks, Game 2

McDonald appears okay

McDonald appears to be okay. He immediately retaliated trying to throw punches.

McDonald drilled by Galiardi

Andy McDonald just got drilled into the boards by TJ Galiardi.  Blues will go on the power play. How Galiardi was not thrown out of the game is beyond me. McDonald's head appeared to smack against the glass. I thought the call would have been boarding, but the plenty was charging; 2:00.

Elliot in goal

Elliott is starting in goal as the third period begins. 2-0 Blues.

Freese, Hull weigh in

David Freese and Brett Hull are at the game.

When interviewed on the jumbo-tron about what he likes most about hockey, Freese said he likes the fights best.

Hull was asked, if he could give advice to any player during the intermission what would it be, he anwsered, "I would say pass it to me!"

Will Halak play?

After two periods the Blues lead the Sharks 2-0.

Elliott finished the second period in goal after Halak left with an unidentified injury. Will Halak return to the net, or will Elliott stay in between the pipes? We'll find out in 13:00

Blues go up 2-0

Great look from T.J. Oshie to David Backes. Blues go ahead 2-0 with 5:00 to play in the second period. Backes' goal was his first of the post season.

Backes said about the playoffs earlier in the week, "it's do or die time, it's our troops versus theirs, a war to stay alive."

Halak expected to return

Blues just announced Jaroslav Halak is expected to return, whether or not Hitchcock will put him back in we will have to wait and see.

Blues, Sharks get physical

Halak has not returned to the bench; there is no official update from the blues on his condition or status yet.

Brian Elliott was 2-0 against the Sharks this year with a 1.00 GAA, and a save percentage of .967.

Things are beginning to extremely psychical.  A scrummage just turned into the first Blues-Sharks fight of the playoffs. No doubt Kris Russell won against Joe Pavelski. Russell landed a couple of right handers, then Pavelski fell to the ice.

1-0 Blues 12:00 minutes to play in the second period.

'Jaro' down on the ice

Barrett Jackman just ran into Jaroslav Halak and Halak is down on the ice. Trainers are surrounding him.  He just got up on his own power.

With the crowd chanting, "Jaro, Jaro, Jaro," he put his mask back on but left the game for the time being.  Brian Elliott just entered the game.  Elliott sat out of practice Wednesday with an 'upper body injury,' but Ken Hitchcock said he is 100-percent.

Blues fans turn up the volume

Atmosphere much more lively tonight at Scott Trade than game one.

Instead of rally towels tonight, Blues fans were given Thundersticks when they entered the arena.

Andy McDonald just got smoked in what appeared to be the leg by an Alex Steen shot; he got up with no problems.

David Backes just got slapped with a two-minute penalty for cross checking.

Sharks out shot the Note 10-9 in the first period.

1-0 Blues after one period of play.

Game 2 check-in

Checking in from the Blues-Sharks Game 2...

1-0 St. Louis, 6:00 to play in the fist period. Vladimir Sobotka scored for the Note.

I would be very surprised if the best 'home' team in the league would drop a fifth straight game.  The blues went a NHL best 30-6-5.

Right now the Note is being outshout 10-4 late in the first period.
