NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD is seeking the public's help in finding a man they say severely beat a man into unconsciousness over a damaged cell phone.
The incident occurred on April 1 around 3 a.m.
According to police, the 47-year-old victim and a friend found a cell phone on a table outside of a Bourbon Street bar and tossed it onto a nearby roof. The phone then fell to the ground and broke.
Police said the suspect, who owned the phone, returned to the bar and became enraged to find the phone damaged.
A surveillance video shows the suspect repeatedly punching the victim. Police said the victim was rendered unconscious and suffered a broken nose and numerous lacerations to the head and face. He had surgery to repair a broken nose.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 35-40 years of age, between 5'10" and 6' tall, with shoulder length hair.
