(KMOV.com) -- MODOT says after a couple years of research, covering Interstate 70 with a park so pedestrians can seemlessly reach the Arch is not only possible, but the best way to go.
However, nothing is finalized yet and Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., MODOT will host an open house on the second floor in the St. Louis City Hall. Engineers will be go over plans with anyone who cares to stop by.
The idea is to have this project finished by October, 2015, the 50th anniversary of the Arch.
The project, which is being called "CityArchRiver2015", is expected to cost more than $550-million. As of January, $57-million has been pledged to the cause.
Long way to go.
