(KMOV) -- The fiance of an Imperial woman who survived a robbery and kidnapping attempt last week is recovering after she jumped out of a moving vehicle.
Adrian Breeden says family and friends are doing what they can to help police catch the suspects.
Around 1:30 a.m., the victim was returning home from work when two men confronted her in the parking lot of her apartment. Police say the men struck the victim with a pistol, demanded money and keys before forcing her into the trunk of her vehicle. The woman got in, but moments later pulled the trunk release tab and jumped out of the moving car. The woman ran to her apartment, where Breeden says he called 911.
Police say they spotted the victim’s vehicle and pursued the car to the Poplar Street bridge. Police arrested 18 year old Jeffrey Smith. Authorities said they were searching for at least one more suspect. Breeden says he believes a third person was involved.
Family and friends created a Facebook page to raise awareness of the case and take donations for a reward fund.
