(KMOV) – Spring-like conditions will be featured for most of Tuesday, though it looks like storms could impact the St. Louis area over the next couple of days, according to the 4Warn Storm Team.

Temperatures Tuesday morning started off in the 50s and are expected to rise into the low 60s by the afternoon.

News 4 Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt says Tuesday’s conditions will be dry and mild most of the day, with a chance for a late afternoon or evening shower or storm.

Those storm chances will continue Tuesday night as temperatures hover around the 50-degree mark.

The higher chances for storms will start Wednesday, and some of them could be severe.

“The forecast calls for a stormy period from Wednesday into Thursday night,” Ehrhardt said. “The highest risk of severe storms are from Wednesday evening through Wednesday night.”

News 4 Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton says hail and wind are the main threats, but tornadoes are possible as well.

"The prolonged period of storminess is due to first the warm front moving through (Wednesday), which puts us in an unstable area as storms develop," Templeton said.

The cold front will be slow to move out, but should finally clear the area by Friday morning.
