(KMOV) – An O’Fallon, Ill. man is charged with child porn, exploitation, and sexual exploitation Wednesday in St. Clair County.

In July 2013, O’Fallon police received an anonymous tip that Nicholas A. Cherry, 19, was engaged in inappropriate behavior with underage females.

At the time Cherry was employed by the City of O’Fallon as a camp counselor and was relieved of his duties.

An investigation was launched and spanned several months. Evidence of his inappropriate relations with minors soon surfaced and were presented to the St. Clair States Attorney's Office. Arrest warrants were then issued for Cherry.

At this time, there appears to be no connection between Cherry’s role as a camp counselor and his charges.

"We always are on the side of protecting our children in these situations, and immediately removed Mr. Cherry from our camp counselor position," said O’Fallon Mayor Gary L. Graham.

The O'Fallon Police Department would like to urge anyone who has any information regarding Nicholas Cherry to contact Det. Carl Walker or Lt. Mick Hunter at the O'Fallon Police Department at (618) 624-4545.
