(KMOV) – Several prisoners in St. Clair County were released from jail due to overcrowding on what some are calling “cop-out” Thursday.
After voters turned down a tax increase to expand the jail on Tuesday, News 4 went to the jail to find a drastically lower number of inmates released.
On Thursday, only three inmates were released; a big drop to the 50 inmates set free at once in the past.
News 4’s Robin Smith went to jail officials to find out the latest.
