Alderman asking CVS to help stop meth makers

ST. LOUIS ( -- A St. Louis alderman is reaching out to area pharmacies encouraging them to change their policies concerning pseudoephedrine.

Shane Cohn, alderman for the 25th Ward, placed calls into CVS corporate and asked the company to consider requiring a prescription for certain medication connected to meth production, even though legally the store does not have to comply.

Alderman Cohn said other companies already implemented the policy and now CVS is considering his request.

Alderman Cohn called after reports came in across the St. Louis area that meth makes from both sides of the river are attempting to get “seniors” to buy them cold medicines necessary to make meth.

The intersection of Hampton and Chippewa is a target for these meth makers.
