SHIILOH, Il (KMOV.com) -- Shiloh police confirmed a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning.

Around 12:20 a.m., Michelle Annette Jackson was walking north on 158 near Scott Air Force Base when she was hit by a driver.

Police believe jackson took the MetroLink to the end of the line, got off and started walking.

She was wearing dark clothing and it was raining at the time. The female driver who struck Jackson never saw her, and in fact thought she had hit a deer. The driver called security at Scott Air Force Base to inform them, and when security and Shiloh officers went to see if the deer was still there, they discovered Jackson in the road.

Police say no charges will be fired because the incident was accidental.

Jackson is from St. Louis. Her family says they don't know why she was in Shiloh
