(HockeyStL) -- You could understand it if a goalie making his NHL debut on the road against a division rival would play poorly.  Petr Mrazek was nothing short of brilliant in his debut.

Mrazek was recalled to back up Jimmy Howard after Jonas Gustavsson and Joey MacDonald went down with injuries.

Watch highlights

The 20-year-old stopped 24 of 25 shots en route to his first win in the NHL.

Prior to joining the Red Wings, he was 16-7-1 with a 2.26 goals against average and a .916 save percentage for the team’s AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids.
