(KMOV.com) – The federal government is opening up a prison in northwest Illinois.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons plans to use Thomson Prison to alleviate overcrowding at other facilities. Opening the prison could mean 3,000 new jobs for that area.
Illinois built the prison in 2001 but never used it.
