(KMOV)-- The average water bill in St. Louis County could jump to $90 every three months if a current rate hike request is approved.
The Missouri American Water Company is requesting the 21% increase to offset costs related to improving it's infrastructure. Part of the plan would also set up a lower rate program for low income families.
The Missouri Consumer Council opposes the rate hike and wants consumers to speak out. The Public Service Commission will hold three public hearings starting next Wednesday.
