64-Year-old man seriously injured after hit-and-run

(KMOV) -- A local resident was seriously injured after a hit-and-run accident near Bates and southbound Interstate 55.

The victim, 64-year-old Larry Larkin, was driving home from a night at the Casino Queen when another driver hit his pick-up truck. Emergency crews found Larkin around 6 a.m. Sunday morning. His vehicle was upside down, and he was unconscious and lying among shards of broken glass.

Chad Larkin, the victim's son, said he simply doesn't understand. He said he believes someone out there has more details than what's been provided. The police report indicated that investigators found pieces of a blue vehicle at the scene.

The family is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can help solve the crime.

The victim is listed in critical condition at a St. Louis-area hospital.
