La Russa talks about prospect Ottavino's good impression

JUPITER, Fla. (KMOV) - After the St. Louis Cardinals game against the Atlanta Braves was cancelled due to rain Sunday, Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan and manager Tony La Russa had some interesting things to say about a sleeper candidate for the team's bullpen.

Duncan and La Russa said after the game that Cardinals prospect Adam Ottavino will get a good, hard look today when he steps into the game as a reliever against the Boston Red Sox.

Ottavino has impressed the Cardinals coaching staff this spring, especially as of late. Over his last two outings, Ottavino has thrown four perfect innings. Those impressive outings have led to Ottavino getting more of a look as a candidate for a spot in the bullpen.

“Mostly we’re impressed with that means for his future because he’s really refined his delivery, his consistency, without sacrificing any stuff," said Cardinals skipper Tony La Russa after Sunday's game against the Braves was cancelled.
