(KMOV) -- A "welcome home" party is going on in South St. Louis County for a young marine wounded in Afghanistan.

Three hundred people are expected at expected at the American Legion Post 162 to welcome Corporal Tommy Michael.  People lined the street with signs as passed.  He was wounded by a home-made bomb last month.  He was in the hospital for several days.  Cpl. Michael's doctors say he still needs some more rehabilitation and additional surgery.

The party was organized by a woman who does not even know Cpl. Michael.  She said, "I actually do not know Cpl. Michael personally, but I know his mother and grandmother and I just thought this was something that needed to be done.  His mother wanted to do a nice welcome home party and it just kinda snowballed."
