Well it’s week 8 in the Go Red Better U Challenge, and we are talking “lowering blood pressure."

 

Lifestyle modifications to lower risks for high blood pressure include:

-Eating a heart-healthy diet, which may include reducing salt
-Enjoying regular physical activity

-Maintaining a healthy weight
 -Managing stress
 -Limiting alcohol and avoiding tobacco smoke


Tips for managing blood pressure:
Check list for managing blood pressure

-Have your blood pressure checked at least once a year.

- Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole-grain, high-fiber foods.

-Choose fat-free or low-fat dairy products.

-Use less salt.

-Limit yourself to no more than one alcoholic drink a day (for women) or two drinks a day (for men).

-Enjoy at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on most days of the week.

-Make sure your parents, brothers and sisters, and children have their blood pressures checked regularly.
