Jupiter, Fla (KMOV) – The St. Louis Cardinals go on the “road” today as they take on their Roger Dean Stadium complex counterparts the Florida Marlins.

Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter will get the ball for St. Louis. The former Cy Young Award winner last pitched this past Saturday against the Houston Astros, giving up two earned runs on four hits, striking out five in three innings pitched.

The Redbird hitters will face Marlins’ youngster Anibal Sanchez, who matched Mets’ ace Johan Santana in his last outing, tossing four scoreless innings.

The Cardinals’ line-up features mostly projected Opening Day starters, minus third baseman David Freese and left-fielder Matt Holliday. Holliday remains out as he nurses his strained rib cage.

Random note – Former Cardinal Brian Barden will start at shortstop for the Marlins today. He’ll play in the place of all-star Hanley Ramirez.
