(KMOV) -- A woman who police say struck an officer with her vehicle was arrested after leading police on a short pursuit in north St. Louis County.
Zameita Ameen McAfee, 30, of the 4400 block of Labadie has been charged with two counts of Assaulting a Law Enforcement Officer, Armed Criminal Action, Resisting Arrest by Fleeing, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident and Identity Theft. Bond has been set at $320,000.
Police were called to the La-Z-Boy store at 11201 St. Charles Rock Road Thursday night for a suspected forged check. When police arrived, they approached the suspect and she was detained.
Police said as the officer was investigating, the woman ran out of the store and got in her vehicle. The officer followed her out and she struck the officer as she was pulling away. The officer fired shots at the vehicle. The woman then drove her vehicle into another car in the parking lot.
Other officers were alerted and she was soon located and led police on a chase. According to police, the suspect's vehicle lost a wheel early in the pursuit. Later, the driver lost a second wheel and crashed near Lindbergh and Clayton. The suspect was quickly taken into custody by St. Louis County police.
The veteran officer was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and later released.
