Title: Assistant Athletic Director/Head Women’s Basketball Coach & Academic Advisor
Reports to:
Athletic Director

Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to coach the Women’s Basketball team along with all functions associated with the sport, including recruiting, budgeting, scheduling and reporting; and to advise students (prospective and returning) of education planning for Associate Degree and Certificate programs, registration, graduation requirements, college policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following are duties that are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.
  • Analyze the performance and instruct athletes. Evaluate athlete’s strengths and weaknesses as possible recruits or to improve athletes’ technique to prepare them for competition.
  • Analyze athletes’ performance and review game statistics or records to determine fitness and potential.
  • Plan and direct physical conditioning program for athletes to achieve maximum athletic performance. Observe athletes to determine areas of deficiency and need for individual or team improvement.
  • Evaluate team and opposition capabilities to develop and plan game strategy. Instruct athletes, individually and in a group, demonstrating sport techniques and game strategies.
  • Prepare scouting reports detailing information, such as selection or rejection of athletes and locations identified for future recruitment.
  • Discuss scholarships with student athletes/parents.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities pertaining to athletic eligibility per National Junior College Athletic Association guidelines for all college athletes.
  • Promote the total athletic program including fund raising and special athletic events.
  • Maintain inventory for all athletic equipment.
  • Develop and implement athletic monitoring system.
  • Assist in the supervision of all facilities in the River Bend Arena. Provide coordination for summer youth and athletic programs in connection with the overall usage of the River Bend Arena.
  • Act as night supervisor as needed.
  • Advise students with academic problems and refer them to the appropriate campus resources.
  • Perform advising and registration activities.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the student information system.
  • Serve on campus committees as required.
  • Assist the Director in scheduling of staff and work assignments to achieve quality student service.
  • Hire, train, and schedule student workers to ensure consistent, accurate and timely information and assistance to students.
  • Writes and submits various reports.
  • Participates in various planning, review and other meetings as required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. Three years work experience in basketball coaching, prior experience in college basketball coaching preferred; and knowledge of NJCAA eligibility regulations required.

  • Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the direction, control and planning of an entire program or multiple programs.
