The YOUNG LITERATI of the St. Louis Public Library Foundation is a group of young professionals ages 20s – 40s.  Its mission is to enhance the life and vitality of the Library by supporting its programs and building relationships with others who share a passion for the Library’s work.

Since its formation in 2008, the Young Literati have hosted nationally recognized authors, worked on committees for the Library Foundation’s annual fundraiser, volunteered for St. Louis Public Library's children’s programs like PAWS for Reading and most recently, promoted the city library system and downtown by entering a team in St. Louis’s first annual Idiotarod in which they placed fourth.

New This Year.............Not Your Ordinary Book Club
This summer the Young Literati are taking it to the streets. They will read a great book then attend an arts event related to the work.
In May the Young Literati will participate in Shake 38, the Shakespeare Festival’s first-time, non-stop, around the clock Shakespeare event. The Young Literati will be one of 37  groups around St. Louis to read a Shakespearean play on Tuesday, May 25th. They will then join other participants in Shakespeare Glen on Wednesday, May 26th for a party and performance of Hamlet as they celebrate the bard and the Shakespeare Festival’s 10th anniversary.

Keeping with their love of literature and its basis for many of St. Louis’s arts performances, the Young Literati encourage members to read Cervantes’ Don Quixote and then join them on Wednesday, June 23 for Young Literati night at Circus Flora. Young Literati members will receive a discounted ticket price for the performance of INGENIOSO. For more details about Young Literati events, call Liz Reeves at 314.340.2403 or email at ereeves@slplfoundation.org.

Become a FRIEND of the St. Louis Public Library Foundation and join us on June 10th when the Foundation will host a FRIENDS reception at the Schlafly Branch in the Central West End. FRIENDS of the Library will preview the visual arts exhibit entitled, Museum of Broken Relationships. This unique exhibit was founded by Croatian curators, Olinka Vistica and Drazen Grubisic who created the museum after consoling friends over their failed romances.
